Back at the mansion, after they’d cleaned up, rested, and had dinner, Lori announced, “Sean will decide the winner of the event tomorrow. In the meantime, we have a shocking surprise.”

“What surprise?” Tabitha said.

“Someone from one of your pasts wants to talk.”

“Oh, c’mon!” Angela’s palms went up. “We’re not on live TV. Tell us already!”

“I want to get an honest reaction when he shows up. It’s best for the show.” Lori crossed her arms. “If you take a look at the contract you signed, you’ll see that we reserve the right to film anything that comes up. Such as jealous exes come back to stake their claim.”

“Great,” Tabitha whined. “If he shows up now and tries to ruin this for me, I’ll kill him.”

“Um, we were supposed to be completely single when we came here,” Bonnie said. “Do you have something to tell us?”

“No, I broke up with my ex a while ago. I told him I was doing this show. And now that things are going so well with Sean, he’ll want to ruin it for me.”

“Going so well?” Angela pressed. “What planet are you from?”

“Sean hugged me and told me it was all going to be okay.”

“Because you were out of control sobbing and he’s a gentleman,” Angela said.

“It’s because we have a connection.” Tabitha snapped her fingers. “And you two hate me because of it!”

“I don’t hate you,” Angela said, tipping her chin. “I feel sorry for you.”

The doorbell rang in the middle of their dramatic exchange.

“Here he is now,” Lori announced. “Elton, we better be rolling.”

“We are,” Elton said with a weary sigh.

“Make sure all the hidden cameras are on in all the rooms of the house. I want to catch the expression of every nuance and emotion. This is good stuff.”

“Hidden cameras?” Bonnie said. “Since when?”

“Read the fine print,” Lori said, heading to the door. “How can we have a reality show otherwise?”

“You better not have filmed me naked in my bedroom or I swear I’ll sue!” Tabitha turned in a circle, searching the ceiling and corners, shaking her fist.

“They can’t do that, Einstein, it’s a family show,” Angela said.

Bonnie would have said something, too, but her eyes were riveted to the front door because someone from her recent past had stepped inside.
